10/03/2008 Malta: A vote for prosperity and further European integration
Joseph Daul MEP, Chairman of the EPP-ED Group, the largest political group in the European Parliament, warmly congratulated Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi for his electoral victory in the Maltese general elections.
"Last Saturday, the Maltese public voted for more prosperity and further integration in the European family. Dr Gonzi's period in office over the past four years has delivered indisputable results for Malta and we wholeheartedly welcome his re-election in office, " said Joseph Daul.
On the domestic front, Gonzi skillfully managed to turn the fortunes of Malta's public finances and at the same time managed to make EU membership a success story for his country, so much so that Malta is a leading actor in EU policy development.
