23/01/2012 Romania: we support responsible policies

romania.jpgCommenting on the recent declarations of the Romanian Opposition, the Chairman of the EPP Group, Joseph Daul, stated:

"Europe is going through the most difficult economic crisis since World War II. Over the last three years, Romania has had to take economic decisions in order to adapt to the current conditions. Some of the measures have been harsh but they have proven to be the right ones. These decisions will put the country back on the track of positive recovery."

Joseph Daul continued: "All politicians have a duty to listen to the discontent shown by the citizens and to find the right solutions for the present, but also for the future."

The Chairman of the most important European Parliamentary Group deplored the way the Romanian political Opposition utilises people's frustrations in order to discredit a policy that is positive for the whole nation. This could entail major losses on European markets and bring everything to a standstill.

"I call on the Romanian Opposition to be responsible. Their calls for sanctions from the European Institutions are not against the Government, but against the Romanian people. Let's not ruin what the Romanian people have built over the last 22 years."

"The EPP Group has always stood by the Romanian people. They can count on our support", concluded the Chairman.
