On learning the death of Sister Emmanuelle on Monday 20 October, the Chairman of the EPP-ED Group (centre-right) of the European Parliament, Joseph Daul, has expressed his sadness and paid tribute to this Catholic nun for her extraordinary and tireless efforts to help the poorest in society.
"Sister Emmanuelle always said out loud what many people were thinking. She defended the poor, from the Cairo rag-pickers to the homeless in France. It was her daily struggle. Europe and the world has lost a great lady today", said Joseph Daul.For further information:
